In 1839, Singer received his very first patent for his sewing machine. He sold it for $2,000 to the I&M Canal Building Company. With this financial success well underway, he decided to return to the life of an actor. This exquisite cloth depicts a gold and black theater mask on a red and black background and represents Isaac Singer's acting life.
